Think of the money!

Here's a summary of some evidence that 5 GCSEs and 2 A Levels adds an average of £140,000 to your lifetime earnings (so that your efforts in the next four years may be worth £35,000 a year or more!) . A university degree adds a further £252,000 to lifetime earnings for women and £168,000 for men . That's after you take off loan repayments on £9,000 per year fees and tax.

Planning ahead

Here's a superb website to help you in thinking about future careers. It's quite expensive to sign up to the system, but it gives you a really in-depth insight into your strengths and possibilities. Once you have signed up, you have a lifetime login for the site, so you can visit again for another look at key stages of your education and career.

GIFT has been supporting the brightest and most curious young minds for over 40 years.

We run residential weekends, workshop days, online clubs and Summer Schools for secondary age children. These are relaxed, informal opportunities to explore unusual subjects in depth, meet like-minded peers and form lasting friendships.

People often comment that it's nice to be somewhere that they can enjoy learning about unusual things without being judged or the pressure of exams.

We also provide day workshops, advice and training for schools and home educators working with all age groups.

Bursaries are often available to support students who would otherwise be unable to attend.
